I’ve always had a soft spot for classic American muscle, so the Custom ’68 Camaro was always going to appeal to me.
It was a really enjoyable build, and one of the things I particularly like about Mattel Brick Shop is how they use specialised pieces to capture the actual shape of the cars. On the Camaro that works especially well, making the finished model feel more like a proper little replica than a car that has simply been translated into building blocks.
For only 289 pieces, there’s plenty packed into it too. The opening doors are a nice touch, you get different wheel options and decals for customisation, and the metallic exhausts finish the look off really well.
You also get one of my favourite features of the Mattel Brick Shop range: the matching 1:64 Hot Wheels die-cast car. I love having the little die-cast sitting alongside the brick-built version on display.
A really enjoyable build, a great recreation of a classic American muscle car and another Mattel Brick Shop set I’m very happy to have in the collection.
