The Corvette Grand Sport is where the Mattel Brick Shop range starts stepping up in size. At 918 pieces and 1:16 scale, it’s a much more substantial build than the smaller Speed Series cars, and I really enjoyed putting this one together.
The build went together really nicely and I honestly didn’t have any annoying moments or complaints with it. One thing I really appreciate with these Mattel sets is that they aren't afraid to use specialised elements to recreate the curves and shapes of the real car. On a larger model like the Corvette, that approach really pays off and gives the finished build much more of a scale-replica feel.
Once finished, it looks amazing on display. The blue and white colour combination works brilliantly, and details like the opening bonnet, classic fenders, metallic side exhausts and metal wheel covers give it loads of character.
You also get the matching 1:64 Hot Wheels die-cast car, which remains one of my favourite things about the Brick Shop range. Displaying the little Hot Wheels car alongside the larger brick-built Corvette is a brilliant touch.
A really enjoyable build, a fantastic-looking finished model and definitely one of the Brick Shop cars that has plenty of presence on the shelf.
