This was a really cool little build and one I genuinely enjoyed putting together. The pieces had a nice, satisfying click to them and the whole thing came together smoothly without feeling like a chore.
The finished display looks brilliant, especially with the Balrog, the wings and the fiery details framing the scene. I do think the background could have had a bit more going on — a little extra depth or detail behind the main figures would have pushed it up another level — but once it’s on the shelf, it still has loads of presence.
It’s compact, dramatic and instantly recognisable, which makes it a great display piece without taking over an entire shelf.
For 1,201 pieces, the price is another BrickVivid surprise. There’s a lot of build and display value here for the money, especially for something this distinctive. Their pricing is one of the reasons these sets keep impressing me.
Built by me. Really enjoyable build, satisfying piece quality and a very cool finished display — I just wish they’d done a little more with the background.
